Youth basketball is canceled on Saturday, March 14.
Grades 3–5 recently came together to talk about what teamwork, kindness, and sportsmanship should look like at recess. While games can be fun and competitive, we focused on the idea that recess is about much more than just athletics. It’s about including others, encouraging teammates, and treating everyone with respect, even when the game doesn’t turn out the way we hoped.
Students worked together to discuss what recess should look like and sound like when we are being good friends. They shared ideas about cheering each other on, solving problems respectfully, inviting others to join games, and using kind words. To capture these ideas, students created posters to remind everyone how we can make recess a positive place for all.
We are proud of the thoughtful conversations and teamwork our students showed. When we focus on kindness, cooperation, and encouragement, recess becomes a place where everyone can have fun and feel included.

Scales Mound National Honor Society inducted 5 new members at last night's ceremony. Annalee Anderson, Lydia Connor, Hunter Hesselbacher, Graham Koehler, and Anna Weis are our chapter's newest members. We also took a moment to recognize our seniors and their leadership, service, character, and scholarship through their membership.
